Our Lady of Peñafrancia finds a new home in Manila when she is enshrined in the chapel of the Loyola Grand Villas Subdivision on October 26, 2008. A solemn liturgical reception and Eucharistic celebration will presided by Rev. Fr. Manny Sarez, Parish Priest of the Our Lady of Santa Maria de la Strada Parish, Katipunan Ave.

In preparation for 2010, the 300th year of the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia, Caceres Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi, O.P., D.D. has organized the Tricentennial Celebration Committee.  Fr. Jay Jacinto, secretary to the archbishop, reveals that the committee is expected to evaluate, recommend and submit a plan of action in line with the Archbishop’s call for renewal. The committee is tasked to implement projects that will help bring about a deeper understanding of the Peñafrancia devotion and a meaningful Tri-centennial celebration.

“Everybody must see it!” These were the words that came out from the mouth of Bishop Salvatore J. Cordilione, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of San Diego, California when asked about his comment on the way the Bicolanos honor their Ina, Our Lady of Peñafrancia. Bishop Cordilione was the Archdiocese’s special guest during the Peñafrancia Fiesta that culminated last September 21, 2008.
